Blue is among the rarest natural diamond colors — fewer than 0.0001% of mined diamonds exhibit a true blue hue. The color is caused by trace amounts of boron in the carbon lattice, the same mechanism responsible for the Hope Diamond and the Wittelsbach. With the closure of the Cullinan mine’s blue diamond production tier, supply has tightened further.
Every ring in this collection centers on a GIA-certified natural blue diamond, untreated. Saturation grades span Fancy Blue, Fancy Intense Blue, and Fancy Vivid Blue (the highest commercial grade in blue). Modifiers — Greenish Blue, Grayish Blue — shift both appearance and value, with pure Blue commanding the highest premiums.
Settings are typically platinum (color-neutral, never warm) with optional white or pink diamond halos to frame the center stone. Most pieces in this collection are three-stone designs with white side stones at D-VVS, kept deliberately cooler in tone to preserve the perceived saturation of the blue.

About Fancy Blue Diamonds
Natural blue diamonds owe their color to boron impurities in the diamond lattice — boron absorbs red and yellow light, leaving blue to dominate the perceived color. Treated blue diamonds (irradiated or HPHT-processed) exist commercially but are graded separately by GIA and are not part of this collection.
Blue diamonds also exhibit a property called Type IIb classification — they conduct electricity, unlike most diamonds. The major historical blues (Hope, Wittelsbach-Graff, Cullinan, Oppenheimer) are all Type IIb. GIA notes Type IIb classification on the report when applicable.
