The Rosa Cruzeiro do Sul
An extraordinary 10.50 carat round brilliant diamond of historic importance, The Rosa Cruzeiro do Sul stands among the rarest and most remarkable pink diamonds ever fashioned. Graded Fancy Intense Pink and Internally Flawless by the Gemological Institute of America (GIA), this exceptional gemstone possesses an extraordinary combination of saturation, purity, and cut, a union so rare that it places the diamond within the most exclusive echelon of natural colored diamonds known to the world.
Unlike most important pink diamonds, which are traditionally fashioned into cushion, radiant, oval, or pear shapes to preserve weight and maximize color, The Rosa Cruzeiro do Sul achieved something far more extraordinary. From the original rough emerged the possibility of a perfectly executed round brilliant cut, the most demanding and least forgiving of all diamond shapes.
The round brilliant sacrifices more rough material than any other cut in pursuit of absolute optical perfection. To fashion a natural Fancy Intense Pink diamond of this significance into a round brilliant required not only exceptional rough material, but immense confidence in the stone’s inherent beauty and strength of color.
The result is breathtaking.
Fifty-eight perfectly proportioned facets transform the diamond into a living display of pink fire and movement, allowing every ray of light to travel with remarkable brilliance and intensity throughout the stone. The Internally Flawless clarity further elevates the diamond’s extraordinary transparency, creating a vivid blush glow that appears to radiate from deep within its crystalline heart.

The Brazilian Treasure
The origins of The Rosa Cruzeiro do Sul trace back nearly two centuries to the legendary diamond region of Districto Diamantino da Comarca do Serro Frio, within the historic Province of Minas Gerais in the Empire of Brazil.
Renowned for producing some of the most important diamonds ever discovered, Minas Gerais became a symbol of immense wealth and natural wonder during the great Brazilian gold and diamond rush of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. It was from this storied landscape that the original rough crystal of The Rosa Cruzeiro do Sul is believed to have emerged around 1825 — an extraordinary pink diamond of exceptional size and rarity.
Historical accounts and regional lore suggest that the rough stone was intended as a presentation gem for Dom João VI, King of the United Kingdom of Portugal, Brazil and the Algarves, and regarded as one of the architects of the modern Brazilian state. Though the presentation never occurred, the diamond remained preserved in rough form for decades, protected as a treasure of extraordinary importance.
Under the direction of Dr. J. Felicio Dos Santos, operating within the famed Districto Diamantino, the stone was eventually fashioned into an extraordinary 11.71 carat pink diamond known historically as the 11.71 Quilates Extra Rosa.
As generations passed, the diamond continued its remarkable evolution. In the late nineteenth century, the stone was entrusted once more to master craftsmen who refined its symmetry and proportions with extraordinary precision, ultimately resulting in the magnificent 10.50 carat round brilliant masterpiece known today as The Rosa Cruzeiro do Sul.

The Ultimate Expression
Only the world’s most accomplished master cutters could be entrusted with transforming a diamond of such historical and material importance. The cutting of an important pink diamond demands more than technical expertise, it requires restraint, instinct, and unwavering precision. A single fractional error in angle or proportion can diminish both beauty and value forever. In the hands of true masters, however, light becomes architecture.
Through painstaking refinement, The Rosa Cruzeiro do Sul achieved extraordinary symmetry and balance, unlocking a mesmerizing display of cascading pink brilliance rarely witnessed in any natural diamond. The result is a stone alive with movement, depth, and regal intensity, a pink diamond possessing both the romance of history and the perfection of modern craftsmanship.
